February 2017 Lifebook ATC Group Swap

Hello friends

Woohoo 3 posts in one day.  I find uploading and editing photos a bit tedious and so get very behind in posting.  I am a severe procrastinator with a capital P when it comes to certain things.
Anyways I think I am caught up now.  I have February swaps to share the theme was Love.  I had a lot of fun cre8ting these.  My daughter thought I was crazy making the beaded heart ATC and the process was fiddly but the end result is beautiful.  I think anyway.

The heart is cut out

Thanks for looking and happy cre8ting.

Bye for now ~ Liz

Crazy Quilt Journal Project 2017 January Block

Hello friends

I am sharing my January block for the
I have always wanted to do crazy quilting and decided I would finally give it a go.  I love all aspects of this type of medium; beading, embroidery, fabric, lace, silk ribbon, collage etc.  I can do it all in the one place and it is a very creative process, anything goes which eliminates boredom for me.  It is quite challenging however to come up with embroidered seam treatments and embellishing ideas considering the embroidery stitches are new to me and I'm learning as I go. The challenge is to complete a block per month and a size of 8 inches.  So very doable.
There are beautiful blocks already completed by participants.  So much inspiration and talent.
Here is my first attempt.

The naked block before embroidery and embellishing
Completed after a lot of embroidery and embellishing!

I've chosen a palette of soft pinks, rosy pinks, creams and soft greens. A favourite colour palette of mine. The centre of all my blocks have a machine embroidered motif tying in with the colours and my love of roses.     I will be placing my eventually completed 12 blocks around a central applique block which will most likely be a basket of flowers, another favourite of mine.  So far I've learned cretan stitch, some silk ribbon stitches, curved buttonhole, fly stitch, fishbone stitch.  I'm using all sorts of size embroidery cottons and fancy threads. My background fabrics are all cottons and from my stash.
I've started February's block as I hope to keep on top of this challenge.

Thanks for looking and happy cre8ting,

Bye for now ~ Liz

ATC Swap

Hello friends

Sharing a pair of ATC's - Artist Trading Cards -made for the December monthly swap that is hosted for members at Willowing Arts.
This was the first time I've made and swapped ATC's so it was with a bit of trepidation.  ATC's are very small at only 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" - 6.5cm x 9cm.  I thought this would be challenging but I ended up thoroughly enjoying working on this small size.  I'm very happy with how they turned out and I'm pleased to say that my swap partner was also pleased with them

The theme was Winter Holidays.  I can only dream of snow and cool at this time of year.  Living in the hot tropics is at the other end of the weather scale as far as coolness and winter goes for this time of year.

I'm looking forward to the next swap in January.  The theme will be Resolutions.

Thanks for looking, take care, bye for now,

Welcome

Hello friends,

Welcome to my blog.  A place for me to share my crafty cre8tions.  I love all kinds of craft and am a little obsessive  😍  or maybe passionate would be a better description.  I just love making stuff.
It's my stress reliever and fills my soul with joy.

I'm busy at the moment finishing some christmas cards that are UFOs and also some new ones as well.   I'll share these over the next few posts.

Here is a pretty Magnolia easel card I made for someone special to me and I made a box to house it in as it also included a gift.  Plus embellished cards are sometimes tricky to put into envelopes and you don't want all that hard work to be squished around.

I just love the Magnolia girls.  Not so much the newer versions their eyes are a bit weird LOL to me anyway.
Thanks for looking, take care, bye for now
Hugs Liz
